Single mom in need

Hi, my name is Wendy. My youngest son is 13, and we have been homeless up here in Washington state. It was scary. That was December 31, 2007. We were very blessed, got into a shelter that night (almost slept in the car and it was so very cold), then another shelter after that, then one month with friends and another month with friends. Then we moved into our own two bedroom Transitiona Housing Apartment. We were there for two years and then with the help of Section 8, have been in our own two bedroom apartment since September 2010. It was a really good program at the time and helped us so very much. I even went to school for my AA in Business. I'm now battling major cancer for the second time and it doesn't look good for me.

Where ever you live, do you have any programs like that? It really helped us.

I will be praying for you and try to remember God is there for you. I know it is so hard to feel that when you are so right in the middle of the whole thing.

HELP

I will pray for you and the best present, you already gave them by leaving a bad situation. Things could always get worse in that situation, but that was a very courageous thing you did. Things will be looking up from here, you will see. Baby steps are good, one at a time and slowly if necessary.

Blessings to you and your children, and I hope you get the help you need.

Wendy

Just to catch you all up!

in response to Random Acts of Kindness...   Dear Random Acts of Kindness,

Thank you so much, I just got back from walking this morning and enjoyed your reply.

Yes, I too think our bodies are SO MIRACULOUS! And interesting to learn about all the goings-on inside us. If I were smart enough (way back when, a hundred years ago. LOL), I probably would have made a good doctor since it fasinates me so much. I just want to keep learning more and more.

Be sure to have the pain checked out. Could be something or could be nothing.

Thank you for letting me know that I am an "Honory" and thought very highly of by God. LOL. It did make me feel better and came out just fine.

I too believe our thought process plays a HUGE roll in how well our body functions and how we take care of it. My youngest son is just the opposite from me (takes after his father,LOL), if he takes the time to think about it for awhile and you are sick, he believes he will get sick also. I soooo proved my point over the weekend. On Thursday, I came down sick with a normal cold; runny nose, sinus pressure, sneezing, etc. Friday after school he says "Oh great, now I will probably get sick too". And sure enough, by the next day, he too was sneezing and sniffleing. It infuriates me to no end. I tell him to think the opposite and that it has a lot to do with how you can take care of your body, but this is the way he is and probably won't change. :(

Today (being Monday), while I was walking, I was taking in some deep breaths. In through the nose and out through the mouth. Here is WA state it quite cold these days, our highs being in the 40's, but the crisp clean air feels so good to breath.

Thank you for supporting my journey. Wishing the two of you a great day!

Just to catch you all up!

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone gets their wishes this year. God is good.

Just a little note to let everyone in on some things since my first post. I'd been having some pain under my right rib cage for the past two months or so. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I had a CT scan done of the abdominal area. The doctor called me the same day to tell me that they found a tumor on the right lung and scheduled me to have another CT scan done of just the lungs. This was done on Friday, December 2, 2011. She again called me that same day to tell me the results. Still tumor on the right lung and another one deep in my back area somewhere. Well, I guess when it rains, it pours.

But it's all good! And God is so wonderful too. I've had cancer before so I kind of know some of what will be going on. I know it's too early to worry whether I will be here for my son next year at Chrtistmas, but that's the way I am, always preparing ahead of time, don't want to wait til the last minute. Ya know? I would hate for his last Christmas with me to be a negative experience. But, again, it is too early to tell. My doctor will be calling me sometime Monday Dec. 5, after meeting with other doctors and specialists to see where we go from here. That means the rest of this year and the beginning 2012 will be busy times for us.

Ya know, God doesn't give us anyting we can't handle. And as the old saying goes: "What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger". I believe this to be true and love my Lord anyway.

Well, it's late and need to hit-the-hay. Til later, Wendy

About Angel92

in response to Angel92...   Hi Angel92, I really hope you are able to get help. I know how hard it is for a single parent. And how sad we feel during the holidays when there is nothing. Just a suggestion: Do you have 211 you can call. Here in Wa. it's an information source for anything and everything. They will give you some listings of those places that can help you. Good luck and bless you. Wendy

Christmas Help for Alex!

Hi, my name is Wendy and I am in need of help for my 13 year old son this Holiday Season.

Praise God, we are in our own apartment now after being homeless last year and have the help of Section 8. I was in school for my AA Degree in Business, but I stopped going because of Menopause and a huge bout of Depression that lasted a year (yes, that's a LONG time). I am signed up to start school again in the spring (the soonest I could get in). I believe I have seen the worst of the depression now too. Feeling so much better. I have been on medication, talking to my doctor regularly, seeing a dietitian (wonderful), walking and eating healthier choices. I now feel that I am ready to go back to school in the April quarter. Praise God to the highest!

We are living on only $731 a month and this year there is absolutely no money for Christmas presents for my son, Alex. Normally, when I am in school, the extra tuition (after classes and books) is a big help for the extra bills, Christmas gifts, and many other things that come up during the year. I am looking forward to the time when I have graduated and am employed (God willing with the economy the way it has been.) with a good income coming in, when I can be financially secure and get back to helping others who are in need at Christmas, as it is such a blessing.

Alex is an awesome son, helps out at camp in the summer, as a Counselor in Training, is a Junior Staff at our local Boys and Girls Club, and liked by so many. He is very respectful and kind, and an A/B student in the seventh Grade. He has such a great personality, loves to make people laugh and is fun to be with.

Any other organizations you know of, or help you can give us would be so very appreciated and a huge blessing.

Thank you very much and may Gods Blessing shine down on us all this Holiday Season and always.

Wendy and Alex
